Sir Thomas North
1535-1604
Knight, Lawyer, English Translator, Military Officer, and Justice of the Peace
There were no known available portraits of Thomas North until author Michael Blanding commissioned artist Travis Simpkins to create one. There are some of his father, Edward North (1st Baron North) at left, and his brother Roger (2nd Baron North) at right. But not a one of humble Sir Thomas.
His likely cousin George North, wrote a history text, "A Brief Discourse of Rebellion and Rebels" which Dennis McCarthy postulates (with proof) provided source material for eleven of Shakespeare's plays including Macbeth and King Lear.
